The Offence

It is an offence for an owner of a Hackney Carriage company to change their address without notifying their Local Authority or the Licensing Authority of this within seven days of the change.  The address can be either the home or business address, dependent on which is registered with the Authority, and where there is more than one address registered the obligation applies to every address registered. 

Where the business is a partnership then all of the partners are responsible for this.  Where a change of address is not registered in time all of them may be prosecuted and fined separately.

Do I need an NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) for offences relating to a failure to notify the Local Authority or Licensing Authority of a change of address?

No, there is not a requirement for an NIP for the offence relating to a charge of failing to notify the relevant Authority of the change of address.

Punishment

Fine up to £250 for each offence.
