VOSA clampdown on foreign trucks - Tuesday 14 October 2008
VOSA's High Risk Traffic Initiative (HRTI) started with Operation Boston, a weeklong target of trucks breaking the law
From next year, foreign hauliers face fines and the possibility of their vehicles being impounded if they break the rules. On day two of Operation Boston, 26 out of 40 non-UK vehicles stopped were found to be non-compliant. Over the 6 day blitz, a third were found to be unroadworthy and a third didn't adhere to road rules. HRTI will focus on vehicles crossing the border.
