Brunstrom to retire - Sunday 17 August 2008

Controversial Chief constable Richard Brunstrom of North Wales Police will retire by the end of next year.

His contract expires Christmas 2009 and he hopes to retire from police and public life to buy a boat and go sailing. Brunstrom made a name for himself in his devotion to speed cameras. Most recently a speed camera hidden in the back of a horse box.

"After a stubborn defence by MDT the ticket was quietly dropped, and I got the satisfaction of knowing I was not another statistic. I am so glad MDT held their nerve and were quietly reassuring throughout. Cannot fault the service" AD
