20mph speed limits welcomed but without the Police enforcement

The IAM has conducted a survey of 4,000 motorists and reveals that 67% think 20mph limits should be used outside schools

The survey also revealed that opinion about using blanket 20mph limits in built-up areas or at inappropriate sites is less popular. Drivers also believed that lower speed limits should be enforced through the use of signage only and passive measures such as speed humps and safety cameras should be low down on policing priorities.

One Response to “20mph speed limits welcomed but without the Police enforcement”

Common sense prevails. I think that 20 mph in a school zone is both reasonable and sensible. Speed humps and cameras should be consigned to the Waste Disposal Centres where they rightly belong. But, if and when we have 20 mph zones established, lets have a few police issuing tickets to the 4X4 driving parents parking on pavements, no parking areas and anywhere else they think fit whilst taking their lazy little darlings as close to the school gates as possible. Come to think of it, why wait, get the police out there now!
