120mph driver jailed for 16 months

Derby Crown Court jailed the 28-year-old for 16 months and banned him from driving for 5 years

In March 2011 the driver led Derbyshire Police on a 40 minute long high-speed motorway pursuit driving at speeds up to 120mph, driving up the hard shoulder, along the wrong way of the carriageway and eventually ramming several cars including Police vehicles. The Roads Policing Unit stated it was one of the worst cases of dangerous driving Derbyshire has ever seen. The driver admitted dangerous driving but didn’t receive separate penalties for no insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with his licence.
