Traffic speeds in communities too high

Road safety charity Brake, is calling for driver’s to slow down in built-up areas over the summer holidays

Over the school summer holidays more children and their friends enjoy being outside but this brings with it parental fears of traffic speeds around their communities.

Brake are also calling on the Government to implement a number of measures including a reduction of the speed limit in urban areas from 30mph to 20mph, traffic free zones, speed limit enforcement and increased publicity on the dangers facing not only children but also drivers.

One Response to “Traffic speeds in communities too high”

  1. Ken Lines says:

All that is required is to drive/ride using ones ears, eyes and BRAIN. Too often it is the last of those three aspects that is missing/ignored/forgotten.

Far too much credence is given, by government, to knee-jerk activists such as Brake and similar organisations. I have said it many times, bring back proper road policing, by proper Traffic Police officers (not revenue grafters) and start the long slow trail back to sensible policing, realistic speed limits and common sense.
