Motorway speed limit warning

Proposed increase to the motorway speed limit could see casualties and emissions increase

Road safety charity Brake has criticised Government plans to increase the motorway speed limit from 70mph to 80mph. Brake say that there will be a 5%-10% increase in casualties and CO2 emissions could increase by 14% on a 1km journey at 80mph. The increase in speed limit could be in place by July.
