Why am I not surprised by this snippet of news? I used to live very near a Police Station and it was quite common to see police drivers smoking at the wheel, using phones, one arm on the door sill one hand on the wheel, blues and twos going to get back to the station quickly around the same time every day. They are a law unto themselves and seem to think they are above the law. The only ones I had respect for were the old style traffic police who, in general seemed to be both professional and gentlemen – but that was a long time ago.
