A list, compiled by the Insurance Fraud Bureau, reveals the areas with highest numbers of Crash for Cash insurance fraud
Crash for Cash scams involve criminal gangs performing dangerous and unexpected manoeuvres on busy roads to get innocent drivers to crash into them, then making a personal injury claim against the driver, normally with made up injuries. Usually this type of fraud goes on to fund other types of criminal activity such as drug trafficking. Birmingham, Liverpool and Blackburn are the top three areas for Crash for Cash scams.
